TJs Brew Works Pune – a disappointing experience

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Ever since it opened it’s doors as Pune’s second microbrewery, I’d been meaning to check out TJ’s Brew Works at Amanora Town. The first microbrewery in Pune was of course, Doolally. Pretty soon, most of my friends had been to TJ’s, and my visit remained pending, so it was a pleasant surprise to discover another friend who hadn’t been there either.

It had begun to rain quite heavily by the time we got there. It was also the first time I was coming to Amanora and I have to say the way to the parking lot is quite confusing. Eventually, I just told the security guard I wanted to go to TJ’s and he directed me to the East ‘Blok’ parking.

Doolally Pune – The 1st Brewhouse

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Friday evening plans were being discussed, and initially the choices were between a friend’s place or Kiva’s / some other place, when we decided to check out Doolally Pune, home to the city’s first microbrewery and derived from “Deolali”, an army cantonment near Nashik.

I’d been meaning to visit the place ever since I ‘met’ one of the co-founders (Suketu) on Twitter 2-3 months ago. At the time, I’d tweeted about getting some Belgian beers from Bangalore and he replied saying I just had to visit Doolally to check out the real thing. Added to this was the fact that it was located at The Corinthians Boutique Hotel in the NIBM / Kondhwa area, “our” side of town or “nadi ke us paar” as we keep saying.
