A VFM Buffet at Spice Kitchen Marriott, Pune

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We were wondering where to head for dinner one Saturday evening and among the suggestions I got, one was Spice Kitchen. This is one of the restaurants at the recently opened Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre on Senapati Bapat Road.

The place was semi-full and filling up fast by the time we got there and I was patting my back for having made prior reservations. It is quite spacious and I liked the layout, with ample space for everyone to move around and partake of the food on offer.

Sunday Brunch at Paprika Hot Rock, Pune

Reading Time: 4 minutes

I’d been to Paprika Hot Rock a couple of times before, and the experience being good on those occasions, it seemed the perfect place to head to for a Sunday brunch.

It is located at City Point, off Boat Club Road; yes, the same complex which houses Mainland China, Sigree, La Dolce Vita etc. Getting there is a breeze and parking is mostly available. The name “Paprika Hot Rock” of course has to do with their concept cooking method – where food is cooked on a hot volcanic piece of rock at your table. This can be sampled only in the evening, though. This ‘only in the evening’ logic kinda reminded me of the molecular gastronomy at Caperberry in Bangalore.

Kiva Ivy Pune – a new pub in the city

Reading Time: 3 minutes

We’d been planning a drink-up with office colleagues and this place seemed apt, and close, geographically speaking. Kiva Ivy is located on Baner Road, Pune, just after Hotel Mahableshwar, opposite the Symantec office. The place itself is decently done up, though the chairs and wooden ‘bench’ seating (like at Kiva NEA) against the wall is sure to make your butt sore after a while 😛

Seating at Kiva IvyWe went on Friday night and had a good time, though the absence of draught beer in a pub was a surprise. With around 15-16 people managing to make it, the scene was set for some heavy drinkage. The IPL matches were also scheduled to start so we expected a packed house. With wall mounted TVs around the place, everyone got to have a dekko at the match.
