It was sweet revenge for Yuvraj Singh as he made up for the lashing he received at the hands of Mascarenhas in the India-England ODI series. In fact, he went one better, belting six sixes off Broad in the Twenty 20 match against England, as India scampered home by 18 runs.

The sobering thought, of course is that India’s bowlers still have a lot of work to do, considering they allowed England to reach 200. A few runs here and there, and India was all but out of the tournament, after their loss to New Zealand on Sunday.

We can only wait and watch now, as the Indians take on South Africa, who edged out the Kiwis in a thrilling match when all seemed lost. This format of the game has brought out some facts;

a) There is more entertainment value, though I feel it is loaded against the bowlers.
b) The batsmen have taken to trying more innovative shots to clear the field placements.
c) One or two good / bad overs can be the difference between victory and defeat.

To emphasize the last point, in the India-NZ match, two overs by Sreesanth and Agarkar managed to undo all the good work by the other bowlers and Harbhajan in particular. New Zealand were gasping till the 15th over, but after these two overs, they were on a different level altogether, thanks to Oram and McMillan. When India batted, Vettori’s spell completely shackled the Indian batsmen.

Similarly, in the match against South Africa, the Kiwis seemed to have the match in hand, before one expensive over from Oram turned the tables in South Africa’s favour, all credit to Kemp for that.

Just goes to show that you can be a hero one day, and a zero the next.
