Windows Vista SP1 RC expires on June 30
In case you’re seeing a message on your computer saying Windows Vista is set to expire in a week’s time, don’t panic, especially if you’ve already activated your copy. It is quite likely that you have installed Vista Service Pack 1 (Release Candidate) from one of the computer magazine CDs or online. This is set to expire on June 30, 2008.
To confirm that you are indeed running an evaluation version, you can also hit Start->Run and type ‘winver’ in the dialog box. It should give you the OS name, version and build. If you see an expiry date, you know you have a trial copy.
In order to get rid of this message, you can uninstall this version by simply navigating to the Control Panel->Programs and Features->View installed updates. Identify the Windows Service Pack in the list, select it and hit Uninstall, and voila!, your OS is back to normal.
