Why don’t streetlights work when and where they are supposed to ?
One thing never ceases to amaze me; Why do streetlights often work during daytime and never during the night?
During the daily commute from office to home, this is a perpetual problem near the traffic signal close to Konark Estates. If you are coming from either Sadhu Vaswani chowk, INOX or the Southern Command HQ, and wish to proceed towards Poona Club, then heaven help you!
It is a dark, unlit, bad road, and during the night, it is a hell of a chaotic rush as all vehicles scramble to get to the main road. You also get a lot of nasty jolts along the way as well, thanks to the unevenly paved road surface.
A few months ago, the PMC guys had partitioned the road, to ease flow of traffic. The result was a small lane which was a mess of pebbles, gravel and what have you… Then they did a patch up job on that road, which is still a bit uneven. However, the worst problem is that ALL the street lights along that road JUST DON’T WORK!
It’s been quite a while now, and I wonder what it will take to rouse the babus from their slumber. The answer is quite obvious : An accident, however morbid the thought may be 🙁
