Close on the heels of Chuck Prince resigning from Citigroup, an Indian, Vikram Pandit, is slated to get a shoo-in for the top job. If this does happen, he will be the first Indian to be appointed as the head of a leading global bank.

Pandit joined Citigroup around six months ago, and heads its investment banking operations. Formerly a Professor at Columbia University, he also headed Morgan Stanley’s institutional securities business. He also managed a hedge fund that he later sold to Citigroup itself for $800 million.
