The Google Dashboard
Trust Google to come up with something like this. In their attempt to address growing privacy related concerns and being “evil”, they’ve launched a new service called the Google Dashboard.
Basically, it is a summary of the data stored with Google for services you access with your Google account, like Gmail, GTalk, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Search History, Orkut, YouTube, Picasa, Google Reader and many more. There will be a link to Google Dashboard in your ”My account” page.
Some of the information that is listed could be your name, email address, # of contacts, recent searches and so on. Let’s face it; Google services rule the world and there is a huge number of Google applications we’re all used to accessing everyday, so there’s enough data available with Google to build an entire profile of people along with their online habits. You can have a dekko at an intro video below.
By itself, it is not much of a service in the sense that all this information is available under the settings of each of the services we use. The Dashboard just aggregates this information. Check it out at www.google.com/dashboard.
