The Blackberry Bold
Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) has brought out a new model after a pretty long time now. At first glance, the Blackberry Bold aka 9000is quite pleasing to look at, especially the screen resolution, which is larger than the Blackberry Curve and smaller than the Apple iPhone. However, it does not have a touch screen.
Powered by a 624 MHz Intel PXA270 processor, the Blackberry Bold sports a glossy metallic look and more internal memory (128 MB flash memory plus 1 GB on-board storage memory). It also incorporates a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a 2 MP camera with 5x digital zoom, and can record 480 X 320 video. For the first time, it will allow exchangeable back plates in different colors.
It is a GSM quad-band phone and supports GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA and enterprise-grade Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) networks. It is 114 X 66 X 23 mm and weighs 133 grams. It features a full QWERTY keyboard and supports predictive text input. The battery is a Li-Ion, 1500 mAh with 5 hours of talk time and upto 312 hours of standby time.
The BlackBerry Desktop Manager software comes with Roxio Media Manager & Roxio Photosuite 9 LE, which makes enhancing pictures a snap. It also allows syncing with iTunes, and support for High Speed USB 2.0, so moving data to/from the phone is a breeze.
Moving on the business side of things, the Bold works with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Email access is enabled for upto 10 work / personal accounts. (IMAP, POP3, SMTP, Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange, Blackberry Connect).
Though there was no word on pricing, it will be available on AT&T in the US. As for availability in India, well, only time will tell !
