The Delhi High Court has allowed the US based CFA Institute to conduct it’s June 2009 exams in India. The exam is to be held on June 07th, and according to the institute, close to 8,400 Indian students have registered. The Court has not passed any ruling with regard to the December 2009 exam though.

You can now get an MBA-CFA, courtesy the dual degree programme from ICFAI. The duration of the course would be twenty seven months instead of a total of four years needed to complete both programmes.Graduates with 55 per cent aggregate are eligible for the dual degree programme. It has been a long and agonizing wait for the 7000 students who were scheduled to appear for the CFA exams on 03rd June, but in an eagerly awaited verdict, the Delhi High Court finally gave the go-ahead for all three levels of CFA examinations to be conducted in India on 03rd June.

Students planning to appear for the CFA exams on 03rd June will be waiting with bated breath as the Delhi High Court is expected to announce it’s verdict today, on whether the CFA Institute will be allowed to conduct the exams as scheduled.

Within a day of receiving a legal notice from AICTE, the CFA Institute has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on this notice.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a notice to the CFA Institute, asking it to shut down it’s operations in India. Almost 7000 students who have registered with the Institute, now face the prospect of missing the exams, scheduled to be held on June 3, 2007.

In spite of the ongoing battle between ICFAI and the CFA Institute, all the students enrolled for the CFA program will be eligible to appear for their exams in June ‘07.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the battle for use of the word “CFA”, between the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute.
