Amidst all the hoopla and fanfare surrounding it since the past few days, the iPhone finally made it’s long awaited debut in India at the stroke of midnight today.
Also happened to see this article, which said a 14 year old boy was among the first in the country to buy one, with his beaming and proud papa beside him. Nothing wrong with that really, but this is again a clear case of the yuppy-ism that has struck Indians big time over the past 5-6 years. If you have it, flaunt it !
So the “Fake Steve Jobs” has finally revealed himself. This guy had put up a blog called fakesteve.blogspot.com, and had managed to remain anonymous for over a year. Dan Lyons, a senior editor at Forbes, finally admitted to a NY Times reporter that he was indeed the one.
I’d checked out his blog a few times, and found his style of writing to be funny, satirical, irreverant but equally abreast of happenings and shenanigans in the tech world as well as glimpses into the persona of the real Steve Jobs. His final, pithy comment was aimed at the reporter who unmasked him:
