Schumacher turned in yet another master class performance to win the Chinese Grand Prix, which had eluded him till now. To begin the race at sixth place, lose almost 25 seconds to Alonso in the first 6-7 laps, and then make up the deficit AND win the race with over 3 seconds to spare, speaks volumes of the man’s abilities.

By doing so, he is now equally placed on points with Alonso, but ahead in terms of overall race wins (7-6). This has indeed been a dramatic revival by Ferrari, and with two races to go, its right down to the wire.

Kimi had wretched luck, not for the first time, and maybe a move to Ferrari would see him realise his true potential. McLaren face the prospect of going winless for the first time in almost a decade.

Renault on the other hand, are going ga-ga cribbing about races being fixed, and about people at the top playing favourites to ensure Michael gets his 8th title before retiring.

The Schumi-Alonso duel must have the others scratching their heads in frustration. It seems un-imaginable that in this high speed, high risk sport, the oldest man on the circuit is challenging the younger ones for the title, but this is a tribute to Michael’s total commitment, dedication and love for the sport that has kept him going all this time. Here’s looking forward to Suzuka and Interlagos !
