Pune Airport goes 24X7 but brings scheduling hassles with it
I was looking up some flights to Bangalore a while ago and was surprised to suddenly find an absence of any regular morning flights, either on weekdays or weekends. Even the Saturday Indigo flight, usually around noon, was pushed to a 5 pm slot.
The morning newspaper cleared those doubts in a jiffy. It seems the Pune airport is to become a fully 24×7 operational airport from today. Yay !
But wait, here comes the kick… Flights can commence from 6.15 am, but there will be no civilian flights allowed from 8 am to 10.30 am to accomodate the Indian Air Force flying schedule. If this wasn’t bad, the airport will remain closed every Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm for routine maintenance. Jeez, this really puts a spoke in scheduling travel plans.
This is so typical. Every new facility or service being offered MUST come bundled with some riders. 🙁
