Happened to come across an article about the hit film Mr.India being re-made by Boney Kapoor with Gulshan Grover playing Mogambo.

This whole re-make thing seems like a farce. We had Sholay, Don and now this. It seems the majority of our film directors are totally lazy and lacking in creativity. According to them, they’re making these films again so that people of the current generation can also get a feel for those movies!

What total bullshit! All these movies are already available on VCD / DVD / DivX et al, and today’s generation has ample opportunity to see the classics in all their glory. Why then does any director want to impose his childhood fantasy on us?

Another option is to make sequels, which are even worse, and only a handful live up to the promise shown by the original. Of late, I’ve been seeing a weird new trend – names of Hindi film songs as names of TV shows. Further example of bankruptcy in the ideas department!

On the other hand, you have directors like Rajkumar Hirani who could make TWO movies on Munnabhai, and both are simply amazing! Lage Raho Munnabhai was as good, if not better than Munnabhai MBBS.

Even Nagesh Kukonoor with Iqbal and Dor has shown that good original films can be made, and that too with some fresh ideas.
