All the confusion of the past weeks over usage of Mutual Fund Identification (MIN) has finally ended. The Finance Minister announced that the Permanent Account Number (PAN) will be the only identification and reference number for all financial transactions in the securities market. There will also not be any prefix or suffix attached to the PAN.

However, investors will have to give PAN and such other documents and information as required to comply with the Know Your Customer (KYC) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
