Anand Rajarman and Venky Harinarayan of Kosmix have managed to tie up a fourth round of funding, this time worth $20 million, from a consortium led by Time Warner, Ed Zander, ex-CEO of Motorola, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and included the existing investors - Accel Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and DAG Ventures.

Since it’s launch around two years ago, Kosmix has raised ~ $55 million in funding.

An interesting anecdote I came upon: These are the two guys who missed out on not one, but two opportunities to buy Google almost 10 years ago.

As far back as 1998, Google co-founder Sergey Brin had offered fellow Stanford students Rajarman and Harinarayan a chance to buy Google for $1 billion, which the duo declined. The next year, they teamed with Amazon and tried offering ~$300 million, but Brin and Page refused to accept anything less than a billion dollars.
