By claiming Harbhajan made racist remarks against Symonds, the Aussies seem to have opened a can of worms here.

Basically, the timing sucks. Harbhajan had snapped up Ponting for the 8th time. In a press conference earlier, he was asked if he’d become Harbhajan’s “bunny”, and he was not too pleased with that question. Then to top it all, Bhajji and Tendulkar were batting without any problems, and just 12 runs short of the Aussie total when this whole drama erupted.

It seems a cold and calculated move to upset the Indians and more importantly, get rid of Harbhajan, who seems to have become a thorn for the Aussies. It was amazing that almost 5 Australian players apparently “heard” the racial slur, whereas Tendulkar and both umpires who were closer, heard nothing.

Symonds is anyway a person without any credibility, and has shown enough proof of his unsportsmanlike behaviour. He apparently took up cudgels on Brett Lee’s behalf, whereas the latter had no problems himself. The TV replays also clearly show Symonds provoking Harbhajan and not the other way round. This guy also had the cheek to admit he should have been given out but wasn’t.

What more does he need to say / do ?
