IOA sacks KPS Gill, suspends IHF
Reacting to the Aaj Tak sting operation and the terse response from the FIH, the Indian Olympic Association moved swiftly into damage control mode, suspending the IHF and sacking it’s chief, KPS Gill.
This was a unanimous decision, taken at an emergency meeting called by the IOA. It was also decided to appoint an ad-hoc committee, to be headed by Aslam Sher Khan and comprising other past hockey stalwarts like Ashok Kumar, Dhanraj Pillay, Ajit Pal Singh and Zafar Iqbal, .
Aussie great Ric Charlesworth will be an advisor to the selection panel, though I wonder what he will make of this latest ‘appointment’, having being kept out in the cold all this time.
