India just about managed to avoid defeat against England in the 1st Test at Lords.

It took a combination of bad light, rain and a resolute innings from Dhoni to hold the Englishmen at bay. In the end, India having been asked to chase 380, managed to hold on for a draw with one wicket remaining.

Personally, I was quite happy with the result. The reason was a simple one. Over the past few years, we’ve been at the receiving end, seeing matches being drawn in spite of being agonisingly close to victory. It was time for the shoe to be on the other foot at Lords. Hope the team is able to imbibe the learning’s from this match, and count themselves lucky to head to the second test with the score still 0-0.
