India thrashed…. again !!
For the nth time, our batsmen failed to deliver… This is fast becoming a cause for worry, and they seem to be drawn like moths to a flame to rising balls pitched just on or outside the off stump. First Jaffer, then the maestro, Tendulkar.
All the good work done by the bowlers has now come undone for the 3rd match in succession. Not that the bowlers are entirely blameless, either.. We seem to establish a stranglehold over the Safs for the first 20-30 overs, and even wipe out half the side, but then the lower half steps up and more than makes up for it in the last 10-15 overs.
Zaheer Khan seems to be bowling much better after his county stint, and has made Graeme Smith his bunny in this series, getting him for the 3rd consecutive time, and that too in the first over.
Happened to read the morning paper.. it seems Ganguly’s return have suddenly become more pronounced. Whether it will make much of a difference remains to be seen. He is also not that good a player on fast wickets, so it will be more of the experience; “been there, done that” rather than anything else, which will tilt the balance if he is indeed selected.
What I found disturbing was that once again, Mohd. Kaif’s house was attacked by hooligans, and his father even went to the extent of saying that he was mulling over the prospect of settling down in some other city. This is taking things too far, and though cricket inspires such fanaticism, it should not be taken to such an extent.
Also, simply targetting Chappell will not work much. Unless we prepare fast, bouncy wickets, we will continue to be dominant at home, while getting thrashed abroad.
