Something made me sit up late for the India-South Africa match, thinking this was going to be a thriller. What a let down !!! For the umpteenth time, our guys showed that we are yet to match up to the world’s fastest bowlers on their home grounds, whether it is in Australia or South Africa.

When SA were struggling at a shade over 50, having lost three quick wickets, I actually thought we could bowl them out for 100-150. But then, there was Kallis, and he played beautifully, staying put for almost half the innings to guide the Safs to a healthy total. In reply, we were shot out for 91 in 29.1 overs, losing the second match by 157 runs, with Nel the showman grabbing four wickets for only 13 runs after Pollock had got rid of Jaffer (on his debut) and Kaif.
The amount of bounce they got was proof of the fact that our guys just can’t seem to make the ball come up anywhere near the batsman’s face. One ball from Ntini flummoxed Tendulkar, caught the top edge and literally flew one bounce to the boundary.
So it was the same story all over again, and it is disgusting to see our batting superstars fail on really quick wickets time and again !!
