Whenever you type a query in Google, thousands of search results are thrown up, and we sometimes wonder why a particular page was ranked higher than some others.

Now this is not a true blue SEO article, but Amit Singhal, a Google Fellow who heads the ranking team at Google, seeks to explain how Google ranking works

He lists three core principles of their search philosophy, namely,

  • Best locally relevant results served globally
  • Keep it simple
  • No manual intervention
