McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton finally delivered after being on the podium throughout this year, as he led from pole position to win a highly chaotic Canadian Grand Prix and emerged the clear leader in the championship race.

Nick Heidfeld was second, and Alex Wurz, third, in a most unlikely finish. All the other highly fancied drivers, Alonso, Raikkonen, Massa kept having a spate of bad luck, which ruined their chances of a podium finish.

The emergency car was called in four times, as there was action galore on the circuit. Massa and Fisichella were black-flagged for exiting the pits on a red light. Robert Kubica was involved in a terrible crash while dueling with Trulli and Massa. His BMW slammed into the inside concrete wall, somersaulted across the track, hit the outside wall before finally coming to rest on it’s side. Luckily, he was not seriously injured.
This was also Hamilton’s sixth consecutive podium finish out of six races this year, a record in F1.
