Hamilton continues from 2007, on pole for Australian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton continued his form from last year, as he claimed the pole position in the first race of the season at the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne with a time of 1:26.714.
The surprise came from BMW’s Robert Kubica, who came in 2nd, and Hamilton’s team mate, Heikki Kovalainen, who came in 3rd, pipping other fancied names in the process. World Champion Kimi Raikkonen for Ferrari suffered an electronic fuel pump problem and was relegated to 16th, while his team mate Felipe Massa came in 4th. Renault’s Fernando Alonso managed to qualify 12th.
For the Force India team, it was a disappointing start, with Fisichella starting 17th and Sutil, 19th, with Fisichella somewaht unlucky to miss the cut thanks to a yellow flag.
The scene is set for a roaring Sunday morning, then…
