In the aftermath of the mob fury following the desecration of Dr.Ambedkar’s statue in Kanpur, India, as a country, seems all set to go to the dogs. It was horrifying to read about the extent of damage caused in Maharashtra, and it does seem like a deliberate action.

All these rioters, arsonists and looters should be put behind bars, or maybe even shot in the leg while in the act. They seem to have nothing better to do than disrupt the daily lives of common people for petty political gains.

What caused the most pain was a front page picture in the TOI, of the Deccan Queen on fire. This train carries a lot of memories for anyone who has travelled frequently on the Mumbai-Pune sector, and in terms of rioting or vandalism, was a completely unwarranted act. The cops as usual were too dumbfounded to do anything about it. Amazingly, it was only the second time in over 70 years that the train suffered a mishap.

It seems as a country, we no longer seem to care about what happens, and continue to hurtle from one disaster to another. Maybe one fine day, people will decide enough is enough and probably take some action !!
