Some colleagues of mine came in to work somewhat later than their usual time, and once the usual banter was done with, it transpired that it was due to the road widening and concretisation work on Baner road that caused the delay. A few years ago, it was the much touted and quite delayed flyover that caused nightmares for people commuting to / from Aundh / Baner / Pashan.

Now of course the reason for this “road improvement” is the forthcoming Commonwealth Youth Games, so the area from Baner Phata to Hotel Sadanand  is being made one-way.

According to the cops, vehicles from

  • Baner to Pune University circle will be diverted from Sus-Pashan road

  • Sus-Pashan road to Aundh will be routed via Abhimanshree society, Baner Phata and Parihar chowk.

  • Westerly bypass towards University circle would need to use Sus-Pashan road.

  • Satara to Aundh will be diverted from Chandni Chowk, Pashan chowk, Abhimanshree and Baner Phata.

  • Pune to Mumbai will be diverted via Aundh-Rajiv Gandhi bridge and Wakad Y junction.

Seems comprehensive, right? I’m not sure those commuting regularly to/from this area are too enthused with this plan, however !!
