Audi A4 launched in India

Audi has launched it’s A4 sedan in India. The company, which began operations in India last year, now has 5 models in it’s India stable, namely, the Audi Q7, Audi A8, Audi A6, Audi A4 and Audi TT.

They also plan to get more aggressive by increasing their network in India to twelve, up from the current seven. The new showrooms will be located at Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata and Ludhiana.

Now, back to the car itself !! Audi is offering a choice of two engines, the 2.0 TDI multitronic with a power-output range of 105 kW (143 bhp) and the 3.2 FSI tiptronic Quattro with 195 kW (265 bhp). Both use the direct fuel injection principle - FSI technology for the petrol engine and the common-rail system for the TDI unit. The diesel engine version is priced at Rs.29 lakh and the petrol version at Rs.36 lakh, both being ex-showroom prices in Mumbai.

It can go from 0-100 kph in around 10.2 secs, with a top speed of just over 200 kph. The mileage is touted to be in the range of 10-11 kmpl (city), and around 15-16 kmpl (highway). Not that the person buying this car would really give a damn, but these numbers are pretty decent.

Initially, Audi plans to import the A4 and set up a line for building it in India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit at their Aurangabad plant by year end.
