One of the main concerns for AdSense publishers resident in India is receiving timely payments, AND not having to pay too high bank charges.

The AdSense blog has a few tips to ensure less heartburn, not only in getting the checks, but also saving on bank charges. Two of the really useful ones are;

1. Enter an accurate, complete address

This is a problem in India, where the postal address in some cities often seems incomplete or at times, too short and cryptic. To top it all, it can be quite bewildering when addresses that are opposite / adjacent to each other have a completely different PIN code, even causing confusion among residents about their own address! A wrongly entered PIN code can cause a huge delay in receiving mail.

2. Choose INR checks over USD checks

This is a very useful tip, and one which I’ve used right from the time I joined the AdSense program. An Indian bank charges around Rs.500 (approx $12) for a foreign currency check deposit. Secondly, a USD check could take upto three weeks to clear. It definitely makes sense to have Google convert the amount into INR while settling the payment for that period.

The payment also arrives quite fast. To quote a recent example, my last check was dated 29-Jun-07 (posted from Singapore), and I received it on 03-Jul-07. The bank would take around 2-3 working days to clear the check (maybe even in a day if you have an account with Citibank, which is the same bank that issues AdSense payments).

Have a look at the other tips as well.
