The launch of new airports and terminals in India and the UK have not been without their share of problems.
The Hyderabad Airport has been having problems right from inauguration to after it commenced operations, leaving passengers sorely disappointed, whereas the Bangalore Airport has been in the news even before it’s launch.
And just when one thinks it happens only in India, we hear of chaos galore at Terminal 5, Heathrow Airport. Not surprisingly, the GMR group was quick to point out this example as “similar teething problems” in their defence of problems at the Hyderabad Airport.
One question on everyone’s lips is: Why the hell did the Govt and Aviation Ministry have to do this in such a tearing hurry, and that too in such a haphazard manner?
They should have ensured the new airports were fully functional before shutting down the old airports and causing a huge inconvenience to thousands of passengers, not to mention the pilots who didn’t even know about the existence of these new airports !!
